The Z Fencers won 4 medals in the Swashbucklers Fencing Duel!
2 Gold (Men's Epee Individual & U14 Girl's Epee Individual)
1 Silver (U12 Mixed Epee Team)
1 Bronze (U14 Girl's Epee Individual)

We had 4 top 8 results (those just missed out on the medals)
All together there were 12 fencers representing Z Fencing, 6 of them winning a medal!

Senior Thomas finished in top 16  and Johann in top 32, both of them fenced in the commonwealth champs too...I also fenced to have some points for the team!

U14 Girls - Esther Lai Gold Medalist
Esther fenced well in the individual event, she was ranked 1st and won the final quite easily! Julianne lost narrowly in the semis 14-15 and finished 3rd. Well done Girls!

U14 Boys
Aloysius and Wei Soon lost in the quarter finals both of them with 1 hits, so they could have won another 2 medals for Z Fencing.

U11 & U9
Elang & Jaden fenced in their first competition and it was a good exposure for them. Our salute for your brave participation!

Senior Team
There were 16 teams! we managed to win the first match,
then we lost 43-45 in the quarter-finals, so we missed out on one more medal.

U12 Team - SILVER MEDAL
We were ranked 2nd and finished 2nd after winning the first 2 matches easily and then losing in the final after a good fight!

All in all it was a fairly good event, the kids are enjoyed the trip,
and half of the fencers from Z managed to come back with medals! It was a good opportunity for me and for my fencers to come a bit closer to each other, and to show the parents what's competition is about!

The team spirit was good, the parents were supportive, and we improved on our results. Last year we won 2 silver medals, versus this year 2 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze. Hopefuly next year we can win even more medals with the support of the parents & Z!!!

Z Fencers Putting on a Heroic Effort

Dear parents and fencers

This past weekend saw some of our younger children take to the competitions with great anticipation and excitement. The Z Team was out in full force to support many of whom were fencing outside the club for the very first time and who were still under 10 years of age.

All our fencers improved tremendously, and due to the preparatory training over the last few months and the 3-day training camp with their coaches and team mates, they were very confident in conducting themselves at the big format competition.

Warming up together as Z Team

All fencers started the day with a combined warm-up and a short brief by Maestro James on the key points for the competition. Then some free sparring with their friends and they were ready to go!

Briefing by Maestro James Wong

And what an effort! We saw so many of our kids fence with focus and determination. And then something amazing happened…

Our Z fencers made it to all the finals! And we won the gold medal for all 5-events that we entered into (6 events in total):

5 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, and 3 Bronzes from 5 events – a perfect golden 5 and truly impressive effort by our young fencers.

In addition, many of our fencers made it to the top 8 (more than half in Boys and Girls Foil), giving us a promising pool and depth of fencers for the future. And a maiden Gold and Silver win in Epee U12 Boys!

U10 Girls - Gold, Two Bronze Medalists & Z Fencers

While not everyone can win a medal at a competition, we were all delighted with the performance and more importantly, the attitude and focus demonstrated by our young fencers.

U10 Boys - Gold & Silver Medalists

On behalf of the club, we “Salute One and All” of the U10 and U12 fencers who bravely signed on to participate in this competition and brought honour to the school. They are all heroes.
